I chose to go with the Nokia N82 because it had the necessary frequencies to work in the countries I’d be in and had a great camera. The most important feature was its built in ability to geotag photos. As this camera is equipped with GPS, all pictures that I take are then tagged with the exact GPS coordinates where they were taken. This can then be plotted on a map allowing you to see what I saw where I saw it.

At the last minute, I decided to bring my Canon Rebel (a DSLR) in case I was ever in a place where the capabilities of the camera on my phone wouldn’t cut it. To make sure I can still upload all of the amazing pictures I’ll take, I was able to get a SD to CF adapter for the Rebel and then was able to use microSD cards that work in my phone to go into the Rebel allowing me to post pictures to the site no matter where I am in the world.

To save money and avoid using internet cafés, I’ll be able to respond to emails, write posts, and chat on messenger while being connected via bluetooth to the N82.

I thought it’d be a neat way to promote my site and encourage viewer participation to create a stamp with the address of the site on it. This way, I don’t have to carry business cards with me wherever I go and always be in danger of running out. (Plus it was only $16 bucks for the stamp).

Last but not least, I needed a big enough back to carry it all but still small enough to fit in the overhead compartments of any planes I might be on.
